For over 30 years, Ken has handled hundreds of civil appeals in every state and federal appellate court in Washington. His peers have named him one of the Top 10 Super Lawyers in Washington since 2017 — ranking him No. 1 in 2019.

Ken has appeared on the Washington State Supreme Court\\\\\\\’s Honor Roll (for providing at least 50 hours of pro bono service in a year) every year since 2004. He is also a frequent chair and/or presenter for appellate CLEs, is a contributing editor of the Washington Appellate Practice Deskbook, and recently extensively revised its appellate-briefing chapter.

Ken is a past President and Trustee of the Washington State Bar Foundation, and chaired the WSBA\\\\\\\’s Rules Drafting Task Force, whose mission was to reduce the costs of civil litigation in Washington. Ken previously served on the WSBA\\\\\\\’s Board of Governors (2012-2015) and was unanimously elected Treasurer for 2014 – 2015. Ken has also chaired numerous committees for the WSBA and other bars over the last 20 years.

Ken is very honored to be a Fellow of this Academy, and a Sustaining Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

In his community, Ken has served on several non-profit boards. He formerly worked as a professional musician for about 10 years, and still plays jazz guitar for the joy of it, as time permits. In 2015, he was honored to perform in the premier jazz festival in the Northwest, the Earshot Jazz Festival.

Ken\\\\\\\’s most happy achievement was convincing his wife, attorney Kara R. Masters, to join her practice with Masters Law Group, PLLC, as of counsel.
