History and Purpose

The Academy was founded in 1990 to advance the highest standards and practices of appellate advocacy and to recognize outstanding appellate lawyers.

The Academy is a non-profit organization consisting of the Fellows who have been elected to the Academy. The Academy is supported by a contract staff organization located in suburban Washington, DC. The activities of the Academy are supported entirely by the dues and initiation fees paid by the Fellows.
